Charities 2011
As a church we support local and international charities. Charities are suggested by members of the church and voted on at the annual AGM. This year we have decided to support two local based charities and one national charity. All charities have members from our own church fellowship actively involved in promoting the work of the charity.
Life Shift Salford
This Salford based charity is organised by a former member of the church, Lewis Usher and his wife Abbey, who felt called to open their home to help those who feel lost in life. They aim to show the love of Christ to those they seek to help by offering help and practical support in every day living. Inspired by their visit to Japan to see the work of Jackie Pulinger, Lewis and Abbey work with their church, the Langworthy Community Church and with other local organisations to help restore and rebuild the lives of those in need, but especially to bring Christ into their lives as Lord and Saviour.

ROC: Redeeming Our Communities
Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) is a National Charity founded in 2004. The aim of Redeeming our Communities is to be a catalyst for community transformation by promoting partnerships which open up more opportunities for crime and disorder reduction, and enhanced community cohesion. We bring together community groups, churches, the police, the fire service, local authorities and voluntary agencies to encourage them to work together in positive partnerships for practical change.
In May 2010, WKURC held its own ROC Conversation which brought together people from the community around us, local churches, the police and fire brigade, schools community workers. On October 9th 2011, we welcomed the National Director of ROC, Debra Green, to our morning worship. Debra gave us a challenging message about ways to engage better with our community. |
