Membership Covenant
We want anyone to feel able to come to our church and want to make people as welcome as possible. Our hope is that, in time, they’ll feel able to become members of the church and commit themselves to serving Jesus with us in West Kirby. We ask those who want to take this step of commitment to sign up to a membership covenant, so that they know what they’re committing to. This also helps us give a real sense of belonging and fellowship within the church. Here’s our membership covenant:
|
Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I believe that God has called me to become a member of West Kirby United Reformed Church. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the church members to do the following, acknowledging my need of the Holy Spirit’s love and power:
- I will be focussed on God, to worship and serve Him in my whole life.
- I will be willing to change my lifestyle so that I become more as Jesus wants me to be.
- I will worship regularly at my church and support the witness of my church to the gospel with my time and money.
- I will build up my church by acting lovingly towards other members, by refusing to gossip, by taking my part in the decision-making of the church, and by respecting the leadership.
- I will welcome those who visit, and help those outside the church to know Christ and become part of the church.
- I will build up the wider church, because it is the Body and Bride of Christ and every part is valued and loved by Him.
- I will pray faithfully.
- I will serve God by discovering my gifts and talents, by developing a servant’s heart and by taking opportunities to grow spiritually, both in private and alongside other church members.
- I will study scripture faithfully and seek to order my life under its authority.
