What is it?
Créche is a facility that we provide during the morning service for young children to play, have fun, and at the same time be introduced very gently to the basics of the Christian faith.
Parents are welcome to accompany their children, and there's a soundproof window looking into church, as well as a feed from the sound desk so anyone in the créche can still hear what's going on in church. The creche is also staffed each week, so children can also be left to play if prefered.
Although there's nobody running the Créche in the evening services, parents are welcome to make use of its facilities if needed.
Where and when?
Créche runs every Sunday morning during the morning service. The room is on the right hand side as you come in through the main church entrance. The door is, perhaps unsurprisingly, labelled 'Creche'.
Why do we do it?
Our créche is not a cell for the separation of noisy children. As a church looking to follow Jesus' example, we welcome children, just as Jesus did; even those who insist on initiating an acoustic battle with the preacher. This is not a problem- the preacher has a microphone. Children are part of the family of the church, and if people turn their heads after a junior contribution to the service, it's because they've heard, not because they disapprove.
Having said that, it's fair to say that there aren't many one-year-olds who find a church service more exciting than a ballpond, so Créche exists to provide a more stimulating atmosphere for little ones, as well as involving a bit of Biblical teaching that's on their level.
Thinking of coming?
The Créche is open to be used as and when the need arises. Anything from depositing offspring at the start of the service and collecting them at the end, through to just popping in for 5 minutes, is fine.
