Financial Giving

Picture
You may have noticed that we rarely mention money on Sundays and that we do not take a collection or offering during our services. There are two reasons for this:

1.We exist to “Connect your Community to Christ”, to help people to hear and understand the message of Jesus Christ. We find that not asking for money from visitors helps them to relax, listen freely and ask questions.  We are not after your money!

2.We believe that a local church is made up of Christ’s people gathered in that place.  This means that West Kirby URC’s finances are the responsibility of its members and regular attenders.  They have the primary responsibility before God for funding the church.

West Kirby URC wants to use its money wisely, to help people to grow to know and love Jesus. We’re not afraid to spend money to build God’s Kingdom, but we know it’s important to steward our finances. The church is a registered charity (no. 1128869) and the elected Elders and Treasurer serve as Trustees.  We invest our reserves ethically and our accounts are independently examined each year.

“See that you… excel in this grace of giving” 2 Corinthians 8:7

What does West Kirby URC spend money on?

Our main financial commitments are
  • funding our local mission and ministry through our church organisations and activities
  • paying our staff
  • our annual contribution to the national United Reformed Church’s Ministry & Mission fund which pays our Minister’s salary, trains Ministers, funds Ministers’ pensions and supports wider mission.

Our other costs include maintenance of the building, administrative costs and supporting Christian charities, with which we have links.

How can I give?

We ask everyone who attends regularly to consider giving financially to the work of the Church, in accordance with your means.  If you would like to give, you can:

  • Put cash or a cheque (payable to West Kirby URC) into one of the wooden offering bowls on the table as you come into the Church.

  • If you use online banking, make a one-off gift or set up a standing order, payable to:

West Kirby United Reformed Church                            Reg Charity 1128869
                (please use full name)
                Sort Code: 09-01-51
                Account Number: 72598303

  • Or you can collect an ‘Instruction to set up a standing order’ form from the Treasurer’s pigeon hole, at the back of church.  Complete it and hand it in at your bank to arrange a regular gift.If you are a UK taxpayer, please complete a Gift Aid form and return it to the Treasurer, so we can claim back the tax you have paid. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, do keep a record of your gifts, so you can claim back the difference between basic and higher rate tax yourself.
