Under 5s are welcome at West Kirby URC
We are a family church and love to welcome everyone. We were delighted to receive a Child Friendly Church Award, and if you need anything to help your under 5s feel welcome please do not hesitate to ask. Here's our written-by-a-mum guide to bringing under 5s along to West Kirby URC...
Sunday Services: Children are very welcome in our church services, and we value their contribution to our worship. As well as singing or dancing, children can enjoy worshipping with the flags and ribbons provided in our soft-floored children's area in the church, alongside quiet toys and activities. A crèche room with feeding and changing facilities is also available for your comfort.
Bubbles: During the 10:30am church service, under 15s are invited to leave for their own BREAKOUT! groups. 0-4 year olds can be cared for in our “Bubbles” group - each session includes a story and prayer time and lots of time for play! When your child attends for the first time please remember to fill in an information form. You can read more about BREAKOUT! here. Alternatively, children are welcome to stay in the service throughout and some toys are provided.
Feeding: West Kirby URC is breastfeeding friendly and you can breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable. There is a more private space with nursing chairs available in the crèche room if this is helpful to you. Similarly, you are welcome to bottle feed wherever you like, including in the crèche room. If you need water to warm, cool or make up a bottle, please ask in the kitchen. We also have highchairs available and a welcomer can provide you with one. If you need some baby food there is a small selection of food and snacks in the crèche room.
Baby Changing and Toilet Facilities: There are baby changing units available in the crèche room and the hall entrance accessible toilet. Please help yourself to any nappies or wipes you may need, there is a selection in the crèche room. If your child needs a change of clothes, there are some available in the crèche room. There are steps, potties and toilet seats available to use in the Hall Entrance Accessible Toilet.
Buggies and Prams: There are spaces in the Church Entrance, Hall Entrance and in the church worship space to leave buggies and prams. A welcomer can point these out to you if you wish to make use of them.
Dedications & Thanksgivings: We would be delighted to offer a simple service of thanksgiving for the birth of your child/toddler as part of our Sunday morning service. We give thanks to God for this wonderful new life and pray for you as parents, that God will bless you as you bring up your child. If you would like to talk about this, please get in touch using the contact form here or chat to a member of the Toddlers team.
Toddlers & Toddlers for Dads: West Kirby URC holds Toddler Group on Fridays during term time with morning and afternoon sessions. There is currently a waiting list but please let us know if you would like to join it. We also run a monthly Saturday morning group, ‘Toddlers for Dads’, for dads, granddads, uncles and children, and this group has no waiting list. There are bacon sandwiches and hot drinks for the grown-ups and crafts, snacks and toys for the children. Follow the links to find out more!
